What happens between the pages, stays between the pages...As writers, we tend to jump into many projects as a means of getting our work out there in as many different ways as possible. Especially as an independent author, it's important to showcase your writing abilities to as many people as you can get to read your work. It's only natural that I have also began undertaking this practice! Currently, I'm working on a secret project with my publisher, Raven's Seduction Press, and I had to shoulder Falling Undercover for a few weeks as a result. I'm not happy about setting aside my debut romantic suspense novel, but I'm SUPER excited about this project. While I can't tell you much, I can post teasers every once in a while until I'm given the okay to speak more freely. So, for your reading pleasure, here's a little taste of my secret story! It was quiet, aside from the wind as it blew through the tall stalks of grass. I could feel them swaying against my body, but I didn’t want to move just yet. I wanted to relish the few brief moments of nothingness before reality would suck me into its clutches once again. For a little while, I could just be.
I was part of a race of people who traversed universes in search of a higher purpose. We rarely remembered anything from who we were in a different place, only that we had been there. Many of the worlds looked the same, but some speculated it was because we were incapable of truly seeing the vast differences. I chalked it up to the powers that be running out of good ideas. My name is Ember Addams and I’m a Traveller. “You’ve been lying there for a while. I thought you were dead,” a man’s voice echoed through the wind. Jolting upright, I scanned the maze of grass, but found no one there. “Who are you? Where are you?” I called out. He laughed, “I’ll show myself only if you tell me who you are and how you came to by lying in this field.” “My name is Ember and all I can remember is waking up here. I don’t know what happened,” I admitted. “Hmm,” the man replied. “So you’re in the business of telling half-truths?” I sighed, “I’m a Traveller. I only know that I’ve arrived in a current life, not what came before it. The only knowledge I’m given is my name and the origin of my species. Everything else unfolds as it’s destined in this life.” “I’ve never heard of Travellers,” he said suspiciously. “You wouldn’t,” I shook my head. “Usually, we’re not supposed to talk about who we are or what we are, but I don’t see a point to it. I’ll soon forget and fully assimilate into my new life, as will you.” “I’m not sure that makes any sense,” he answered. “But you’re telling the truth. You may want to close your eyes for a moment, Ember.”
